Intruder Alarm Takeover and Update
Fully Addressable Wired Fire Alarm System/Part Wireless Hybrid Replacement
Summary/background
Walmley Club is an extensive private members’ club, first established in 1901. Today, it is a well-used modern facility, consisting of 9 snooker tables, large bowling green, lounge area and stylish large function suite, which can accommodate 170 people for big occasions like weddings, wakes and christenings. There is also a popular bistro café on-site and the Club also hosts weekly live music shows.
Challenges the client faced
Justice Fire and Security was originally called in to look at the Club’s existing fire alarm system, as Walmley weren’t receiving the service they required from their previous provider. Following an in-depth survey and engineer’s report, it was discovered that many parts of the system weren’t adequately working. We advised the Club that a full fire risk assessment should be carried out. Following this, we quoted for a completely new fire alarm system.
During the time that our engineers were working on site, we were also asked to takeover and update the existing intruder alarm system.
Equipment we installed
Intruder alarm System
We installed a Pyronix hybrid intruder alarm panel, which is especially suited for takeover projects, because the new wired system is compatible with the existing wired detectors, ensuring that the old and new devices work seamlessly.
The new installation also provides an end-user app, enabling Walmley to remotely control the alarm system.
Fire alarm system
We installed an advanced addressable fire alarm system with Apollo detectors. Whilst this was brand-new equipment, we also incorporated a number of wireless detectors in the adjoining café. This simplified the installation, avoiding the disruption of running cables through the café during opening hours. Since the main Club was unoccupied during daytime, this enabled us to install more traditional wired devices in that area.
The final outcome
The result for the end user is a fully functioning, easy-to-operate fire alarm system, which will provide many years of trouble-free usage.
Also, the improvement to the intruder alarm systems enables the Club management to see important security information via their smart phone app, such as when the system is armed or disarmed and by whom.
Walmley Club Secretary, Amy Mills, said that throughout the installation of both the fire and intruder alarms, there was next to no upheaval, with the Club able to maintain its existing opening hours. “The Justice team were brilliant at working around our schedule, sometimes coming in very early in the morning to avoid any disruption.
“The service and support we have had has been excellent, from all the engineers and the Operations Manager, Steve. What we really appreciated was that Justice didn’t just come in and try to sell us something. They explained exactly what we needed, and why. Both systems are up to scratch and easy to manage. We have been extremely impressed with the reliable service.”
